McCain Delaware County says he’ll say no to earmarks

Via KYW 1060:

Fresh off a Philadelphia fundraiser Thursday night night, Republican presidential candidate John McCain addressed several hundred party faithful in Springfield (Delaware County), Pa. on Friday morning.

During the hourlong town meeting, McCain hammered on several key issues, topped by Thursday’s failure of the US Senate to approve a temporary halt on earmark spending:

“There’s only one place in America where they don’t get it that pork barrel spending is out of control and Americans want it stopped, and that’s in our nation’s capital. And I want to tell you, as president we will veto those bills. We will stop them. I will make them famous.”

The crowd rose to its feet when reminded that this was the 35th anniversary of McCain’s release from captivity after five years in a Vietnam POW camp. McCain responded that many of his former colleagues remain in touch with him and advise him.
