Two questions on which to sleep

by

1. What will it take to win the Democratic nomination? McCain may yet be able to win the Republican race by winning some of the big winner-take-all primaries over the next month. But can either Clinton or Obama find a way to push the other out of the Democratic race?

 2. What if somebody wins? Could Huckabee and Romney supporters line up behind McCain? Given the Democratic alternatives, that seems a good deal easier than getting McCain and Huckabee supporters to line up behind Romney. Are Democrats still so united in their opposition to the war (remember that issue) and to the Bush administration that they can bury the hatchet and get together for either Clinton or Obama? Even after these contests are settled, and before the general election campaign gets underway, the nominees will face enormous challenges.

I’ll wait to learn the California outcome in the morning. Thanks to everyone who participated or looked in tonight.

Your point that “a good deal easier than getting McCain and Huckabee supporters to line up behind Romney” is what I think will work in McCain/Huckabee’s favor come Convention time. Republicans will see the obvious complement of McCain and Huckabee (whichever order those names should come) will secure MANY more moderates and conservatives than Romney would in his conservative appeal, considering his OVERALL appeal ends there.
