Huckabee’s West Virginia stomp brings questions

by

mitt-romney.jpgMaybe you saw Mike Huckabee’s stomping of John McCain in West Virginia, beating him 52 to just one percent, while Mitt Romney made a contest of it, nabbing 47 percent.

Well, according to TheHill.org, Romney is calling foul play, alleging that McCain threw in the white flag and pushed for a Huckabee victory, hoping to keep out the Romney campaign.

After a first ballot proved a three-way tie, Romney says McCain urged his supporters to throw their votes for Huckabee.

“Unfortunately, this is what Senator McCain’s inside Washington ways look like: he cut a backroom deal with the tax-and-spend candidate he thought could best stop Governor Romney’s campaign of conservative change,” Beth Myers, Romney’s campaign manager, said in a statement reported by TheHill.org.

This is really interesting, Chris. Thanks for posting it. It’s a throw-back to an earlier era, that’s for sure.
