As Good As Gold at the DNC
Hey all you blog readers and political junkies!
My name is Lily Gold and I am a rising junior at Germantown Friends School. I can easily be described as a political geek trapped in the body of a sixteen-year-old girl. Besides the occasional long walk on the beach, I enjoy typical teenage past times like watching TV, going to movies, and hanging out with friends. My TV obsessions give a glimpse into the classic struggle between my political “geekdom” and my “girlness.” I not only own but have memorized every single episode of both The West Wing and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. My other love besides politics is musical theater which I happily indulge daily through my plethora of showtunes on my iPod.
For the next week I will be interjecting with posts about my experience at the Democratic National Convention. I am going with a group of 250 high school students from all over the country through The Junior State of America, a non-partisan organization which was created to give high school students who are concerned about what is happening politically, like me, the opportunity to pursue our interests further.
I will be talking to high level campaign officials, current and former White House staffers, journalists, party activists, and delegates from the tri-state area. And to top it all off, I will be in Mile High Stadium for Barack Obama’s acceptance of his party’s nomination.
With my open eyes and ears I will soak up everything the Convention has to offer and blog about my close encounters of the left kind.

We are in the process of picking a guest blogger to send reports in from the Republican National Convention.
