Suburban “battleground” left scorched and broken

Not really… by most accounts the suburbs are still leafy green and the backyard swing sets are still standing.

A quick look at the county-by-county results that KYW 1060 has so dutifully maintained reveals that while the city of Philadelphia was solidly Obama Country (though not solidly enough as it turns out), the burbs were a bit more of battleground:
